Labour & platform data
Platform workers' own data
Help drivers, couriers and other platform workers obtain and understand the data platforms hold about their work, wherever they work.
Platform work is organised by applications that record trips, deliveries, connection time, ratings and pay. Workers can request this personal data under data protection law, but the exports are often hard to obtain and harder to interpret alone. The project would offer shared guides and tools for access requests, and help workers, researchers and labour organisations read the results together, where the records permit.
The project complements geographic places. GVA:DATA proposes this work with Uber drivers in Geneva; WORK:DATA would let the same methods serve workers of any city or platform, and compare what different exports reveal and omit. Participants keep control of their data, sharing is voluntary, and any collective publication must protect workers and customers from identification. This is a project proposal, not a claim of established findings.
