Our starting point

Every place has its questions. The ground beneath them can be shared.

DATA:FOUNDATION is an example of a foundation for places: settings where data questions are worked out in local terms. Some are on the map, like GVA:DATA in Geneva; others are not, like WORK:DATA. As in number theory, the global picture is assembled from all of them.

Field notes

Why a data foundation?

Places where data questions are worked out need shared ground: methods, agreements and infrastructure that no single place should have to build alone.
