Make data rights usable

Mechanism · From individual rights to collective use

Help people exercise their data rights individually and put the results to collective use, with organisations such as PersonalData.IO.

Data protection laws give people rights to access their personal data, but exercising them is often difficult and the results are hard to interpret alone. The foundation would help places guide participants through access requests, understand the exports they receive and, where participants agree, combine insights to address shared questions. Collaboration with organisations such as PersonalData.IO is a proposed way to draw on existing experience; naming it expresses a collaboration direction, not a claim that a formal partnership is in place. Participation must be voluntary, and any collective analysis requires explicit consent and careful protection of the people involved.
