WORK:DATA
An extra place, defined by an activity rather than a location: helping workers obtain, understand and collectively use the data their work generates.
Work is not a point on the map, yet it is a place where data questions take a specific form: pay, working time, evaluation and control by software. Drivers in Geneva and couriers elsewhere share these questions. WORK:DATA proposes projects on platform workers' own data, algorithmic management and AI tools at work, and connects with geographic places such as GVA:DATA rather than replacing them.
In the language of number theory, WORK:DATA plays the role of an infinite place: a completion that does not come from any prime, which Arakelov theory puts on equal footing with the others so that the picture is complete. It is published at data.foundation/work and reachable at work.data.foundation.
